fined or even jailed, the EUobserver said. Teachers who could be identified as
gay on sight could lose their jobs without having violated any rules, the
report said.
A major non-governmental organization has voiced concern over civil liberties
in Poland.
A European Parliament committee decided Tuesday to investigate how such a bill,
if it is formally submitted to Poland's parliament for approval, could be
compatible with EU standards.
Polish Education Minister Roman Giertych, whose League of Polish Families party
worked out a draft plan, suggested last week there was nothing wrong with the
bill that is aimed at prohibiting the promotion of homosexuality in schools.
