Later Blake, 44, threw balls of scrunched up paper at the stewardesses and flew
into a rage when he was refused more alcohol.
It is claimed he became so abusive and aggressive that he had to be handcuffed
while the pilot diverted the flight to Bermuda. His girlfriend Fitzgerald, 28,
became hysterical and was also handcuffed.
Fifteen police officers were waiting at Bermuda and the couple were put on a
flight back to Gatwick where they were charged. Undeterred, they later boarded
another flight to Jamaica where they got engaged.
Monday the couple appeared before a crown court judge in Brighton where Blake
admitted affray and Fitzgerald admitted being drunk on an aircraft.
Prosecutor Danny Robinson told the court the couple were involved 'a number of
incidents' on the flight, which was carrying 300 passengers.
He said they were being 'loud' and that Blake jabbed his finger at crew members
and threatened them.
Recorder Christopher Morris-Coole, sitting at Brighton Magistrates Court,
adjourned sentence until next month and told Blake that he faced a 'very real
prospect' of a custodial sentence.
The court will not be told the full details of the case until the next hearing
but Blake and Fitzgerald, who live together in Luton, spoke earlier about how
they 'joined the mile-high club' on the flight in December 2005.
Fitzgerald, a secretary, said: 'We joked about having sex on the plane for
weeks before. We thought it would be exciting. We felt like we were being very
naughty but we made a point of being quiet.'
Unemployed Blake said: 'It's not the easiest place to have sex in.'
They say that none of the other passengers noticed their visits to the lavatory
and they went quietly back to their seats.
Blake told how he was refused a drink. 'I couldn't believe it,' he said. 'I
asked to see the supervisor, who sided with her staff.'
It was then that a male and a female officer from an asylum detention centre,
who were escorting a woman back to Jamaica, got involved. Blake said: 'The man
came up and asked what the problem was. He then handcuffed me. I didn't
antagonise him at all. I just kept telling them it was outrageous.'
The cabin crew claim they feared for their safety as Blake became extremely
threatening.
Fitzgerald said: 'The woman officer told me if I didn't shut up, she'd restrain
me as well and the next thing I knew she had handcuffed me.'
The couple at first denied the charges but changed their pleas to guilty at the
last minute Monday.
A charge against Blake of endangering an aircraft was dropped.
