Novi Pazar police chief denies such allegations. Even though the police chief
adamantly claims that Novi Pazar has no striptease bars, B92 reporters visited
two striptease joints and talked to four prostitutes.
Drug trade thrives in Novi Pazar, owing to the location of this Serbian town.
The drug has been imported through the same channels for years now.
There were three major drug trafficking groups prior to the Operation Sablja,
launched on March 12, 2003 following the assassination of Zoran Đindic, that
cracked down on organized crime. However, the police have records of as many as
five groups operating in Novi Pazar at the moment.
"They've never been better organized", former police Chief Suad Bulic said.
