In a decision made public yesterday, Sanidas instructed his colleagues to
conduct daily checks on newspapers and magazines. If any are found to offer
DVDs with unsuitable content, a probe should be launched and charges filed,
according to Greece's top prosecutor.
Sanidas also ordered that the pornographic material be seized and suggested
that the publication itself should be removed if it "insults public
sensibility."
Giving away free DVDs has become an increasingly popular way for newspapers and
magazines to increase their circulation in recent years. Some publications have
sought to cash in by offering soft-porn films to their readers.
